A Facebook user and an expert in the banking industry, Ugee Nwachimereze took to his Facebook page to share an interesting story on how he canceled marrying his US-based girlfriend that was scheduled last year in December.
He wrote, “This thing called marriage.
So my trad was supposed to hold on the 28th of Dec, 2023 and white wedding on the 30th of Dec, 2023.
We had gone far in silent preparations and things are going as planned.
Madam stays in the US 🇺🇸, so i was doing most of the planning.
We concluded with some vendors and did part credit to them.
I remember reaching out to Preye Black-god Blakes to MC the event.
She insisted on a wedding of 16M.
Aside the expenses of her and her friends coming from the 🇺🇸.
I told her, why 16M. She highlighted her reasons of which she said we will pay for all the rooms at Rixos Continental, hire full security for myself, her friends and families for a week, that my suits will be made from the 🇺🇸 cos she refused all my correct Aba guys, she insited we get a new car to use for the wedding (8M worth of car).
For caterers, she said we will have 3 different caterers, this and that….
I was just looking at her, after she had finished talking, i asked her, Chi, how much are you contributing.
She said 3M. That i will bring 13M.
I laughed….
I started cutting down expenses and we arrived at 6M.
She refused.
That she cannot come all the way from the USA to do a wedding of 6m…
She’d rather do a zoom wedding. (What an insult).
So i stopped discussing anything Wedding with her.
In August, 2023. She came into Nigeria for our Court Wedding.
I discussed extensively with her on what she truly wanted.
Marriage or Wedding….from my deep conversations, i knew it was the biggest mistake to even go for introduction.
They already bought tickets for their December flights.
Herself, 6 friends, her mum and 3 brothers.
yes we talk often i mean her siblings and mum, but the person i often see is her dad cos he is in Nigeria.
I askes we paused with the Court wedding and re-evaluate if we are truly ready for marriage or wedding.
She got angry and insisted i refund her the ticket back.
Me sha send half of the ticket fare to her… she left after 9 Days back to the 🇺🇸.
She told me I’d quit my job and cancel any political dreams if i have any.
That i will move in with her to the US 🇺🇸 and deactivate my account cos she see alot of ladies comment on my post and it gets her upset.
This lady tortured me emotionally and did all she could to be fully in-charge.
I remember speaking to Chibueze Okenwa Offor-Ukaegbu for our Bespoke wedding attire and she insist she must talk with him to be sure he can design what she wants me to wear.
Long story short, August 21st, i called few Uncles that accompanied me to their home for introduction, that it won’t work.
I explained to her Dad and the man actually understood my point… I am a man, not a pauper.
His daughter want me to end my dreams and move with her to 🇺🇸… and i told him, my dreams are more valid to me than anything.
Any woman that can’t align with my dreams shouldn’t be my wife.
We canceled the wedding.
I peacefully messaged her i won’t be going on with this marriage,… you need to see the messages she sent.
I allowed her vent then blocked her.
I reached out to some Vendors i already paid, for refund.
Some refunded and some are yet to refund.
Known her for 4 years, and everything was great until we started planning wedding.
To think Oni Of-Lagos was in charge of the Grooms men? I wanted a silent but dipe wedding and not wedding of 16M nne.
However, I’m fine and mich better at peace with myself.
I will her luck too…
In as much she tried reaching me via mails and another number to make peace, i do not want to give her that chance to come in and make herself over me.
No one is worth your dreams….
Go where you find peace.
Don’t be moved by green card or what not, if your would be spouse doesn’t encourage your dreams and want you to terminate it to suit them, no other red flag is more than this.
